Alright, folks. Time to put those bananas to work. This banana smoothie needs just 2 ingredients (spoiler alert: one of them is banana) and it’s refreshing, sweet and beautifully simple. It’s healthy, gluten-free, kid-friendly and great as a snack or a breakfast smoothie.
Why Make Banana Smoothie?
Let me answer this with 2 other questions (there’s a tiny chance you can’t stand people who do this, but I’ll risk it).
- Do you often have rotting bananas at home?
- Do you like easy healthy snacks?
Well, this smoothie uses bananas is super easy to prepare and did I mention delicious? Oooooh, it’s very delicious.
Banana Smoothie Ingredients
So I did my spoiler alert thing in the intro (and in the title), but here are the 2 ingredients for this smoothie:
- Banana
- Plain Greek yogurt
BOOM. Just 2 of them, shocking I know. If you would like to overcomplicate your life and this smoothie, take a look at the variations below.
How To Make Banana Smoothie
- Place the banana, yogurt and 1/4 cup water in your blender.
- Process until smooth
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Freeze Those Bananas
If you’re tired of old bananas rotting around your home, just freeze them and add them to your smoothies. This way you’ll make the smoothie so much creamier and you’ll keep it cool without adding ice.
Whenever I see a banana going “bad”, I peel it, chop it into bite-sized pieces, put it in a Tupperware and place it in the freezer. This way I can use as much or as little of the banana as I want to in a recipe.
Banana Smoothie Variations and Add-Ins
If you say, well this banana smoothie with yogurt is way too simple for me, you might like these additions:
Chia seeds. To add some extra nutrients and to make the smoothie more filling.
Frozen berries. For that extra antioxidant boost, you can check out this amazing strawberry smoothie.
Orange. Adding some freshly squeezed orange juice to a cocktail or smoothie that has a banana and cream or yogurt in it, always takes things over the top.
Cinnamon or Vanilla. Make your smoothie even more flavorful with these tasty additions!

- Place banana and yogurt and "a sip" of water into your blender. You can also add some cinnamon or vanilla for extra flavor. I find using frozen bananas better for texture and temperature.

If you don't have frozen bananas add some ice to your blender to make the smoothie cooler.
