Do you ever feel confused and suffocated by all you have to do and everything around you? Then maybe it’s time to start decluttering more than your closet or pantry. It’s time to declutter your life and make space for the things you actually want in it.
Decluttering, to me at least, means prioritizing the things I actually need and WANT in my life. And giving them space to breathe and to grow.
Everything else, everything that would be nice to have or do is at this point clutter and needs to clear.
Because clutter is what’s stopping you from living intentionally. Like you mean it.
There’s something so freeing and uplifting about getting rid of things that don’t make you happy. It seriously makes me way happier than buying something new.
Here are 9 life-changing ways to declutter your entire life!
9 Ways To Declutter Your Entire Life!
1. Declutter your home
Obviously, you can start with your home. Get rid of the stuff you don’t need at home. Old jeans you’re never going to wear, the shampoo you got for free but will never use, that mustard that expired 3 months ago, but is still hiding in your fridge…toss anything that you know you’ll never use. Then fill your space with what actually brings you joy.
2. Declutter your habits
Let me tell you, everything else on this list is easier. Quitting habits that make your life, even a little bit harder, is tough. And it’s an ongoing process, because habits are habits. They take time to form and they might take even more time to quit.
So whether it’s procrastinating, sleeping late, smoking, driving everywhere or eating crap for breakfast and dinner – make a commitment and take it one habit at a time, one day at a time.
A good way to start is by creating and sticking to a healthy morning routine that makes you excited to wake up, even at 5 AM.
3. Declutter your playlist
Whether you listen to podcasts or music, make sure it’s something worth your time. True you might be listening to something while cleaning your home or driving to work, so it’s not extra time you need to put into it.
However. If your playlist isn’t inspiring you, teaching you something new or making you happy – it’s time to declutter there as well.
4. Declutter your goals and projects
What is old news, what goals do you tell yourself you need to achieve ASAP, but never get around to do anything about?
Maybe it’s because you don’t really feel like doing this anymore.
Kiss them goodbye and really focus on the projects and goals you actually WANT to fulfill in your life.
5.Declutter your phone
We’re talking apps, screenshots, social media, uninspiring and blurry pictures with no memory attached to them, files and notes you never look at, contacts you haven’t called since 2009 – all that. Which brings me to…
6. Declutter your desktop and computer
Do you have 21 tabs open right now? Things you need to look at ASAP?
Do you have the same pictures stored in 10 different folders and bookmarks for things you’ve never looked at?
Well, my friend – maybe, just maybe, it’s time to close and delete some of these.
I did this last week, and I’m not entirely done, but it’s the best feeling ever.
7. Declutter your inbox
Make time to clean out your inbox – respond to the messages you need to, delete the ones that are spam and not important to you, unsubscribe wherever you don’t want to be.
8. Declutter your planners
If you have 10 different planners and notebooks and write things down in whichever one is near to you, stop it.
Choose one planner or notebook and write everything in there.
Meal plans, work ideas, to do lists – it’s so much easier to find notes when they’re all in the same place.
A great way to do that is by keeping a bullet journal – it’s basically a mix between a journal and a planner at the same time and you’re the creator of it.
9. Declutter your to-do list
Lastly, if you have 152 items on your to-do list for the week or month – it’s time to narrow it down.
When you do narrow it down, you’re actually more likely to do to the things that are important.
As for projects – get rid of the things you don’t feel the need to get done.
