Enjoy your coffee even if it's cold with this easy iced latte recipe without sugar - you need 5 minutes, whole milk, an espresso or instant coffee and some ice cubes to make it.

I decided to move on from my cappuccino for the summer and switched to this cold, tasty iced coffee. And now I’m addicted. If coffee had any nutritional value, I would probably be having it all day every day. Nothing else.

The fact that it has two ingredients – coffee and milk, and I can make it in 5 minutes is not stopping me. Now if it was a green smoothie, which doesn’t take much longer…I’d find an excuse. But, I’m committed to coffee.

It’s decaf, okay. And no sugar. So how good can it be?

It’s very good, I’m telling you. It’s creamy, it’s cold and it has coffee in it. I am not a huge fan of the combo of coffee and sugar, so I make mine without anything sweet in it.

But when you make the iced latte, you can add sugar or other sweeteners and even natural flavors like cinnamon or vanilla. I’d start with 1/2 tsp of dark brown sugar (or maple syrup or whatever sweet things you have), taste test and then adjust to the sweetness I like.

Basically, you need to make a coffee, blend the milk, then add more ice to the coffee and finally put it all together. If you’re adding sugar or flavor, add it to the milk before blending.

You can also make this with instant coffee. I like my coffee to taste like coffee, not milk, so I add about a tbsp with about 1/4 cup water. With the instant coffee version, everything goes into the blender and then you add the ice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 espresso
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make an espresso in a bigger glass and add an ice cube to it so that you can cool it off while the machine is running.
  2. Blend the milk for about 30 seconds to make it frothy. If desired, add flavor or a sweetener of choice to the milk before blending.
  3. Add 3-4 ice cubes (or as many as you want) to the coffee, then your blended milk and stir gently together with a straw.
  4. Taste test and adjust to your needs. Do you need more milk, or coffee or sugar? Now's the time to add them.

Notes

If using instant coffee - mix it with 1/4 cup of room temperature water and blend with the milk.
