Garlic Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Okay, I’m not gonna lie to you. I simply cannot resist a good grilled cheese sandwich. But when you add garlic and avocado to it – well, it really becomes an obsession.
Now to keep this obsession, kinda healthy (which is, of course, possible with obsession, I’m not talking out of my butt or maybe I am) – I decided to eat this grilled cheese sandwich with a salad. And it’s such a great combination. I made a salad similar to this one, minus the avocado because I already used the one ripe avocado in the sandwich.
How To Make Garlic Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich
The first step to this is definitely making the avocado mixture. Make it as if you’re making it for an avocado toast and get ready to be judged for not investing in a house instead because you’re an irresponsible millennial.
So for the avocado mixture, you mix 3 of my favorite things in the whole world in one bowl. Avocado, crushed red pepper and let’s not ignore garlic, because life without garlic is impossible. It’s common knowledge.
Once you have this avocado mixture, spread it on 2 slices of bread, top with mozzarella cheese and then with another slice of bread. There, you surprised everyone, instead of avocado toast you’ve now officially made avocado sandwich.
But that sandwich is gonna be even better if you toast it for a bit. You can do it in a sandwich maker, waffle maker or if you don’t have any of these – do it like a poor person and toast it in a pan with olive oil. Flip carefully and toast until golden brown on both sides. See it works too?
Now serve this sandwich with a salad or air and enjoy it asap.
If you want to make this avocado grilled cheese sandwich a little bit more complicated you can add fresh herbs like to the mixture. You can also spread some pesto on the bread, add grilled vegetables like zucchini or eggplant – you can go really crazy here. On the other hand, you can also keep it simple and spend like 10-15 minutes on making this and trust me, it’s more than good enough.
- 1 avocado
- 4 slices of bread
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- Mash the avocado in a small bowl and add the garlic and crushed red pepper.
- Spread this avocado mixture on a slice of bread, top with mozzarella cheese and add the other slice of bread on top. Repeat for the other bread as well.
- Toast in a pan with olive oil, flipping once carefully until golden brown on both sides.
- Take out of the pan and on to a cutting board and slice in the middle.
- Serve immediately with a salad of choice.
I kept this sandwich pretty basic and the ingredient list short, but if you want to - chop and add your favorite fresh herbs to the avocado mixture. Basil, dill and cilantro will all go well in here.
