Hard-Boiled Egg Sandwich Ingredients

Here’s what you need for this big undertaking:

  • 2 slices of bread (I had the oldest slices that ever existed and I even think my son ate a little bit of one, did not bother me. I’ve been eating scraps for 6 years already, nothing can stop me.)
  • Pickled jalapenos, or if you don’t like heat – pickles…Something pickled or salty…
  • Avocado and garlic
  • Salt and pepper
  • Tomato
  • Hard-boiled eggs

And that’s it!

How To Hard Boil Eggs

Now if you don’t know how to boil eggs, I’ll save you the googling, especially around Easter. Yes, I should’ve posted this around Easter, when everyone has eggs! Anyway, ignore the evil voice in my head: “you’re never good enough”. Shut. Up.

I don’t know how everyone else is boiling their eggs, but here’s what I do.

Put the eggs in a pot, fill with enough water to cover the eggs. Then bring to a boil.

Once the water is boiling, reduce heat to low/medium and let the eggs cook for about 10 minutes. Some people do 8-9, but I want to be on the safe side where no Salmonella is coming for me.

The eggs will be done.

Turn the heat off, put some cold water into the hot water. You can peel the eggs right in there. I usually take them out and punch them all over the shell, so that it’s ALL cracked. I’m probably imagining this, but I feel it helps with the peeling.

If you’re not eating the eggs right away, store them in the fridge with their eggshells on for up to 4-5 days. They’re super practical for snacks, breakfast or lunch. Or even dinner. You can use them in salads, bowls or in sandwiches.

How To Make The Hard-Boiled Egg Sandwich

Now this hard-boiled egg sandwich is just one thing you can make after you’ve boiled the eggs. But it’s a really good thing. Here’s how you make it:

Toast the two slices of bread

Toast the two slices of bread that you have (either use a toaster or on the stove).

mash the avocado

Mash the avocado and mix it with salt, pepper and a minced garlic clove.

Cut the egg in slices, as to shape little egg circles (this might be a bit tricky, but don’t let the shape ruin your day – the eggs will taste the same in the sandwich).

Cut the tomato in slices as well (I used cherry)

spread avocado

Now spread the avocado over one slice of bread.

top with eggs

Then top with the egg slices.

top with jalapenos and tomatoes

Then with the jalapenos, the cherry tomatoes and close the whole thing with the other slice of bread.

Cut in the middle and enjoy!
