The sun rises, you open your eyes and your first thoughts are “I want to improve my flexibility, strength, and balance”. That’s exactly the way it goes. Reasonable and understandable, who wouldn’t want this first thing after waking up? And, there’s an easy way to achieve it all – do some Pilates in the morning!
Pilates is a type of exercise that requires concentration and a good mind-body connection. By doing it consistently, you can enhance your core strength, improve your posture and reduce stress, among other advantages. It’s also customizable and low-impact which means all fitness levels, even people with injuries or joint pain can do it.
So wherever you are on your fitness journey, these morning Pilates exercises and workouts are a great addition to your weekly workout plan. You can practice any time of the day, but doing Pilates early in the day can help you tone your body and tune your mind – a total win-win!
1. Quick Morning Pilates Routine
When you’re just getting started with Pilates in the morning, you may want something quick, to test the waters. Or you might only have 15 minutes in the morning. This workout is for you! In less than 15 minutes, you can stretch your full body and start your day feeling focused and strong. The instructor guides you through a number of movements to work all of your muscles in the short period of time you’re practicing.
2. Pilates Full Body Stretch In The Morning
Through gentle stretches and mobility work, this Pilates flow promises to cast away all the stiffness that may have accumulated in your body while you’ve slept. This quick workout routine is perfect for beginners, as you can adjust it to your own pace.
The routine is split in two parts – mat stretches and towards the end (once you’re actually awake), you’ll do some movements standing up.
3. 25-Minute Pilates To Wake Up And Feel Energized
This morning Pilates workout gets bonus points because it’s performed on the beach. That’s a win in my book. Unfortunately, teleportation hasn’t been invented yet, but you can still do these fantastic exercises at home and enjoy their benefits. All you need is a mat!
4. 30-Minute Pilates LIIT
Spend half an hour at the beginning of your day doing these Pilates exercises! This routine is specifically advertised as LIIT – low-intensity interval training – perfect for newbies and anyone wondering if working out is the right thing to do. Especially early in the day (spoiler – it definitely is!).
The routine includes a warm-up, the main workout, and a cool down, helping you get into the zone and exit it properly. According to the trainer, the movements are meant to slowly support your heart and circulatory system while recharging your energy levels through quality stretching. When you try it, you’ll see how rewarding it is to progress with this routine.
5. Beginner-Friendly Morning Pilates Workout
Here’s another morning Pilates workout that’s perfect for all fitness levels! This is a 10-minute video that will gently wake up your body. All you need is some motivation and a workout mat. Super convinient, right?
6. 20-Minute Energizing Pilates
According to the trainer this Pilates flow is the ideal low-impact workout to help you start your day in perfect alignment. I reckon there’s no reason not to believe her, as these gentle exercises are the perfect way to get your strength and vitality going.
The workout includes a warm-up, as well as exercises for your chest, arms, triceps and glutes. Learning these staple movements will help you create a great morning exercise practice!
7. 8-Minute ‘Good Morning’ Pilates Stretch
I can hear some people mumbling about nobody having time for exercise at the beginning of their days. Luckily, for critics and for those snoozing the alarms once too many times, this Pilates routine can get you going in just eight minutes. And no surprise there – this is actually my go-to morning Pilates practice lately. It takes away the stiffness after 8 hours of sleep and is perfect for my current schedule!
